1st build, little problem

hey guys i just put together my first system

here are the specs

intel duo core 2 6400
asus p5n-sli conroe
xfx geforce 7950 gt
2 gb ocz pc2 800mzh 2 dimms
western digital 250 gb 7200rpm sata2 16 mb cache
xp home oem edition

heres the problem the build was perfect i had a buddy that had done this before but when we went to load the software windows would keep blue screening tried reformatting the hard drive but to no avail

anyone suggestions??

Try it with one stick of ram. XP can sometimes sense ram problems when loading. Also, try testing the memory with a boot disk of Memtest86+. You may have a defective stick. Third, if you get the bsod again, post the exact error message here so we can research it a bit.

Has the hard drive been used before in another computer? If so, you would have needed to change the IDE drivers.

Maybe I misread your post. Does "load the software" mean install XP or install other programs?

its when i try to laod windows, to boot it off the cd it freezes then bluescreens the furthest ive gotten is the gui screen whe i thought all was goignt to be ok as soon as i get the error msg again ill post it

this time the error msg says "memory_management tech info 0x0000001A"

That's not your issue. You have a core hardware problem.
