Last Item Needed to Complete my Build
Hey guys, I have a build here I would like you guys to take a look at. I just wanted to make sure that everything I have down here is compatible. I am probably going to purchase everything next week and I wanted see what others opinions are on my build. This machine will be for gaming occasionally (so it should have gaming rig specs) but also for a lot of normal sage (browsing the net). I already own a case. Here is the build:
Processor- $317.00 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115003 Mobo- $214.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131025 Memory- $276.00 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145034 Power Supply- $84.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817104934 Hard Drive- $84.49 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2E16822148140R DVD R/RW- $36.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827106015 You may have noticed that I missing a video card. I originally was going to buy this: SAPPHIRE 100150SR Radeon X1900XTX 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 VIVO PCI Express x16 Video Card – Retail- 369.99 I would like to get something similar to this, any recommendations would be nice. Thanks guys. |

Solid choices there. Looks like you have a healthy budget for a build.
Regarding the video card, that's a good one- you might want to hold off spending so much on one until the DirectX 10 cards start getting produced more (a year perhaps) when you can get one for a decent price and just buy a holdover card now like the evga 7600 gt, maybe one of the 7900 series. But yours a good card, in any case.

Hey Tim, my budget is pretty lax. That's a very good idea Tim considering your right, the DirectX 10 cards will be coming out within the next year. However, I am in a good situation because whatever I buy now, can still be used, since I am going to eventually upgrade another system within the next year. So when i decide to get something related to DirectX 10, I can put the card that I am going to buy now in another system. The card that I mention in my first post is actually not on the new egg site any longer, is their something similar that I could buy?

Sapphire used to have a good reputation on this site, I've been out of the loop for a while, so you may want to wait for some others to chime in. It seems kind of pricey, too.

Hey Tim, I am not looking to complete a crossfire setup...does that all mean I should not go with the card you posted in your last post? I am thinking that maybe I can buy the card you posted and yet just not use the corss-fire setup, because it does say "crossfire read".

That card would be fine to buy even if you don't go Crossfire.

I'd suggest a P5B series board. The P965 chipset is a better choice now for Core 2 Duos. The 975X is showing its age and the P965 issues are now history.
