Having just built my first system and trying to update the latest BIOS , i dowloaded and saved Bios update to Floppy. When i try to update the bios from floppy In the Qflash utility, i get a message saying incorrrect file size - The file size of BIOS update is 510kb..
Floppy states - 1.39Mb Free space - 913Kb The mobo is - Gigabyte GA-K8N Ultra sli. Bios update (F6) This is My first attempt updating the current BIOS. Any you guys got an idea what the problem is.. much appreciated! |

Did you extract the file from the download or just downloaded to a floppy? If the file name ends in *.zip, need to unzip the download.
On a side note, is there a particular problem that the upgrade will fix or doing it for GP?

Actually i contacted gigabyte tech team 1 day ago about a problem i am having trying to install W XP and its not detecting the Sata hard drive,, anyway they just got back to me today,,and instructed me to update the BIOS in order for windows XP(new install) to recognize the Sata Hard Drive.
I already replied to GB about this issue but i dont think i will hear from them until at least 24 hours,,maybe earlier if lucky. :-) |

To use that, you need to make a driver-free boot floppy.
http://motherboards.mbarron.net/download/drdflash.exe Download that, put a blank formatted floppy in, and run it. THEN you need to run that bios flasher you downloaded, it will ask you where to install it, tell it a:\ Then you boot with the floppy and follow the prompts. (When I say "run" - I mean simply double click it) |
