PC Build for Web/Graphic Developer
I am looking to build another PC, but I want it to be strong enough to hand Adobe Creative Suite CS2 as well as the Macromedia Programs (Dreamweaver, Flash, etc). It seems that CS2 slows down many PCs and I want to avoid that. Are there any people who have built PCs for these needs or know of any resources that address a build similar to this?

Give us a budget, please. I've speced out quite a few graphics workstations. I assume you will probably want dual display capability, don't include any peripherals or operating system/software in the budget, just give me a ballpark figure for the tower and its internals. Are you going to be doing *any* gaming with it, and if so, how hard core?

The budget is going to be maxed out probably at $1,000. If it takes less than that, then I'll certainly be happy. I will do absolutely no gaming on it, so this will strictly be used for the following programs:
Adobe Creative Suite 2 (CS3 when available) Macromedia Studio 8 Microsoft Office Adobe Acrobat Professional There will be smaller programs used, like IE and Firefox, but those listed above are the heavy hitters. For my previous build, these were some of the items I purchased for the install: ASUS A8N-E Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra ATX AMD Motherboard Patriot Signature 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit System Memory Model PSD1G400K AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Venice 2.0GHz Socket 939 Processor Model ADA3200BPBOX Rosewill RV450 ATX12V 450W Power Supply I already had my hard drives and case, along with the mouse, keyboard, etc. My previous PC, mentioned above is used as the media center now, so DVD-Roms or TV Tuner capabilites are not requirements. |

Let's see. Short version, prices approximate.
Antec Sonata II case - $100 Asus P5B - $125 E6300 CPU - $190 Radeon X1300 256mb (no hypermemory) - $65 Seagate 320gb 7200.10 SATA - $100 Lite-On DVD burner - $40 2 gigs Corsair VS DDR2-667 - $210 That's in the low $800's to give you some fudge room. A E6600 will add about $130. |

Thank you for this breakdown. I've been trying to get a good idea of how much this would all cost and the low $800's price is definitely within budget. Thanks
