Just Built & Powers Always On! Help Plz
I had just bought biostar socket 754 mobo and a athlon 3000+ venice core cpu along with a 7600gt vid card to throw together to get rid of my old socket A 2500+. i put it all together and for some odd reason THE POWER IS ALWAYS ON! as soon as i flip the switch on the power supply everything is up and going (fans moving, HDD is going) but nothing on screen or beeps. The funny thing is i dont even have any of the case switches plugged into the mobo at all. i was thinking that maybe i put them in backwards or something so i unplugged them and that is not the case.as soon as power goes to power supply computer starts up and can not be shut off till i unplug. i have never had this happen and i am stumped. on my new mobo it has a 24 pin connector. my atx has a 20 + the 4 pin connectors. i plugged my 20 in the 24 (leaves 4 to spare) then plugged the other 4 pin connector to its slot. is this right? or do i need a 24 pin connector? i have never had this prob before. plz help me out!

You really should use a true ATX 2.0 (24 pin motherboard power connection) power supply if your motherboard has a 24 pin power connection.
What brand power supply are you using now? Cricket

A faulty motherboard or a faulty cheap low quality no-name power supply.

Sure, the power supply worked for the original computer but now you're asking it to run even more powerful parts that may be putting more strain on it than it can handle. And if it's not a true ATX 2.0 power supply then you're just adding fuel to the fire...if the motherboard has a 24 pin power connection you really need to get a true ATX 2.0 power supply that has a 24 pin motherboard power connector. Until you truly rule the power supply out of the equation you really can't say that the problem is the motherboard.
