First Build-will all this work?
Hey, this is my first build and ive been quite a bit of research to see if everything works together but im still pretty elementary in a lot of this stuff. Anyway, the comp i want to build will be used mainly for gaming. I have a spending cap of about $1300. I would like to build in mind of the future, mostly since DX10 is coming out soon. Im open to any changes that you have that would help.
Case-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811146027 Motherboard- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813157102 CPU-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103861 PSU-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817812001 Graphics-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814195029 Memory-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227168 Hard Drive-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822144417 I really have not researched drives so if you guys have any input id appriciate it. Also, I'd like to stay ATI. In the future i plan to make a crossfire system but i just want a filler card until ATI makes a DX10 card. I would also like to stay AMD. So if you guys have anything to change product wise, im totally open. Thanks very much in advance, oh and i dont need a monitor. |

Well, at this time, the Intel Core 2 Duo is beating AMD on the Gaming front. The E6600 is about par or better than the FX and about $200 cheaper.
The Seagate 7200.10 is the best bang for the buck and a long warranty. The Muskin PSU seems a bit overpriced.

And dont cheap out on the motherboard but go all out on the processor. You might have a fast processor but without the stability of the right motherboard, it means nothing.
And swap that OCZ out with some corsair XMS2. The Mushkin psu is sub par. Get something from Aerocool, Corsair, or Silverstone.

So if i did stay with that motherboard, would it not run stabily with the FX-62?

Yeah, you really want a higher quality motherboard than ASRock. Get something from Asus - either an M2N series or the one they have that supports Crossfire.
Not trying to start an argument here, but a Core 2 Duo system would be cheaper and perform about the same. The E6600 is on par with the FX-62 and costs ~ $315.

Epox has fallen out of favor, since they contracted with another builder (ECS), which has a reputation for very poor quality boards.
Asus is top quality, so we recommend them. Do you really need Crossfire or SLI? The improvement doesn't really justify the cost. I'd go with a placeholder card right now since new cards that use DirectX 10 are just on the horizon. AMD is fine, but I encourage you to search for and read some benchmarks. The Core 2 Duos are superior to AMD chips right now. We don't want you to waste your money.

If you were going AMD, I'd recommend an M2N-E motherboard.
There IS this: http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Produc...uctCode=247099 but I really don't know if it is a good, stable board. Newegg, my first choice, doesn't seem to carry it. As Alaron hinted at, a Core 2 Duo would give you the best value, so be sure to research some benchmarks. |
