-Swap that motherboard out for P5B. Sli is not gonna happen on intel unless u go with a high quality 680i board, and even then its not gonna be perfectly stable.

-Skip the ES and go for the regular drive.

-You can save some $$ by switching off for some Corsair Valueselect Ram.

-PNY isnt the greatest brand, but spend as much money possible on your videocard if you plan on gaming. In which case I suggest you drop the processor down to a E6300 and get something like a X1950PRO videocard.

-Get any floppy drive you wish. Its not all that important.

Power supply's are the most commonly over looked component and are possibly one of the most important parts of your machine.
Do your self a favour and buy a good quality power supply.
Most of the best makes are listed here:

Question Thank You all for suggestions

Wesley here ; Thanks people and I apologize for my tardy reply.
That 4-letter word , ( work ), has me busy .
As this will be a Linux only box , my concern is the P5B.
And that chipset being supported. Again Thank You all !
Still waiting on Income tax return for now but thought I'd
get a jump on spending and see what was / or I could do
the first time . Memory downgrade , ok , is it tunable ?
Thanks again !

If you are concerned about Linux, maybe a 975X board may be more compatible. If you are planning on overclocking, then stick with the 800 speed ram.

I built a box using an Intel brand 975x board and it runs 64bit Linux (RC4?) with no problems at all. I may not have the version of Linux right since it was a while back but I know for sure the customer was satisfied and everything was working. I did it using an Intel 975x board, 2gb of Patriot DDR2-667 (Stick with Corsair, they are great), a Raptor hard drive and an E6600.

If you're using Ubuntu, you're presumably not doing heavy gaming, right? So I would stick with the e6600 and get a lower end vid card. At least when I was playing around with Ubuntu (about a year ago), nVidia had much better graphics driver support in linux than ati did. The "general use" video card recommended around here is the geForce 7600GT.

If you have just assembled a new computer, you might not need a burn-in - just install the operating system first, and then the drivers. I did that before, and I just need to burn in after doing all the installations. I left the comp to turn on for a few hours.

Nobody does burnins any more - just install the OS, then if you want, run some looping app that will exercise everything for a while, keep an eye on temperatures, voltages, and stability.
