Assembly complete, no video!

OK, all the components are in, all the fans are on, the cpu fan is running, the VGA fan is running, the PSU fan is running, the heatsink doesn't seem too warm, I connect my monitor (Using a DVI cable) to my video card and power up and get no signal and then everything shuts off. Any help would be appreciated.

ok I did as the thread said, only the Video card, Ram, and CPU with heatsink are attached, I got a video post, it said no keyboard attatched, new CPU installed use, Chassis intruded!, and fatal error......system halted. Any ideas? I turned it on again and the second time I got the same messages except for the new CPU installed message, but the CPU was warm.

That's fine. Now put the board back in the case and try again. If it's still good, start hooking stuff back up one item at a time. When you get a keyboard connected, go into the bios and do the settings.

Ok I checked each stick of Ram one by one, and they both checked out. It detected my processor, motherboard, Ram, video card, both optical drives, and the hard disk. On initial boot-up I get one beep, when I press the tab button which it says to do, I get another beep and it shows the info of my components, but at the bottom it still says fatal error....system halted. Is there something I should be doing? I only have my monitor and mouse attatched.

What are the complete system specs for this computer? List the parts by brand and model including the power supply.

Which key are you pushing to get into the BIOS?

Ok it was the weirdest thing, I had to reset the CMOS by removing the batteries and switching the jumpers. After that I got into the Bios, monitored the CPU temps which stayed at 35-36 degrees, shut it off and put the side panel on to take it to my room. Then I realized that I forgot to hook up the chassis alarm, so I plugged that in, checked it and now it wont post anything, it will run, shut down for a few seconds and then just run without displaying and video output.

One of those error messages you mentioned said something about Chasis intrusion! (That is something that can be disabled in the Bios. There is a special switch that is attached to the case that is supposed to keep you from turning on the machine without putting the case cover on. I find it rather annoying and usually disable this if I am working on a machine with this feature)

Looks like it's fixed according to a different thread - you can all stop posting here now.
