Another new 1st new build
Confused about cmos/bios config? I have a MSI K9VGM MOBO! on first boot do you have to clear the cmos and config. the bios or dose the manu. set there boards to defalt settings? I have read alot about this and almost always there is a fdd involved. My build will not have a fd installed but will have a 16x dvd burner and a 250gb wd hd (SATA). Any sugg. will be very helpfull, Thanks people for letting me share...

Is your new computer built already or are you trying to prepare for the build?

You shouldn't have to reset the CMOS when building your system (at least that is what I made out of your wording). Everything should be recognized nicely if it is all compatible.

Hey! this rig of mine is 1/2 assembled, just waiting on two more parts and then i will be able to populate the mobo and ease it into the rig for all it's connections. I guess what i'm trying to ask is on the 1st boot if all the fans are running the hard drive spins up and i hear that nice little beep can i just continue on without having to set time, date in the bios and go directly to formatting the hd and installing the os? ANY info will speed things along...THANX...

Have you done this yet?
http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=132409 It's highly recommended to validate your core components. Do your bios settings just before you install the OS. |

No i haven't! I'm still waiting on my processor(amd 64 x2 4600)to have all my parts in front of me before i dig in. I hear mixed opinions on weather i should verify my core components in the bios but on the other hand i always that you need to set the date and time. The mobo is a msi k9vgm!.....Thanks Friend!!!

The out of case powerup validates the core components.
I set the bios on the first powerup IN the case. |
