Can I build a PC cheap?
I am trying to help out an unemployed relative with a dying computer. I am looking for a low cost, basic computer, with XP.
From HP I can get one for $280, with HP installed. Could I build one myself any cheaper? |

Nope, you wont be able to build anything near as good as a prebuilt for $280.
Check the Dell Outlet too, there might be something there that isn't much more than the HP, but has better specs.

Dells always startout cheap, but by the time you add a CD RW, and other expected acessories, it is much more.

If the HP suits your needs, go for it. If building your own for the same price, you would have to pick cheapest junk there is to stay at $200.
