With an AM2 system, you want to use DDR2 800 ram. Better stability. The Corsair XMS will do fine.
Video card: Inno, haven't heard of before. For Nvidia, look to eVGA or BFG.

Cheers
Thanks for the advice, ive cahnged the ram to
1GB CorsairXMS2, DDR2 PC2-6400 (800), http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=239017 As for the graphics card, bfg and evga 950's are juuuust a little too much, im already streched lol! cheers for the advice! |

Have you considered an Intel build? The Core 2 Duo processors outperform AMD's offerings at the moment like-for-like. They also don't suffer from the memory controller issues that the AM2 socket still hasn't sorted out.
I'd suggest configuring a build based around an ASUS P5B motherboard, with an E6600 processor, and 2GB of Corsair VS DDR2-667 RAM. I'd also only put a mid-range video card in any system at the moment - like the Nvidia 7600GT - to act as a placeholder until Direct X 10 cards are released. I'd also get a different power supply (see my comments on the one you picked out in this thread: http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=174696) - exactly which one depends on the core components you decide on! Consider buying all your parts from one store - then you won't get hit by three lots of shipping. My recommendation is www.overclockers.co.uk FK

Unless your going to get the best hi-end video cards, then Sli or Crossfire is of no advantage. A single hi-end card will out perform 2 mid-range cards in Sli.

Here's the power supply I'd recommend. TOP quality.
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=CA-005-CS You mention SLI and Crossfire. Well, at the moment Crossfire is a better option for Intel than SLI, but personally I wouldn't bother with either. One powerful card will outperform two lesser cards linked together. With that in mind, I'd just get the plain ASUS P5B motherboard: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=MB-151-AS FK |
