All compatible, but if you buy a retail boxed processor you don't need the Zalman. Is your PSU a quality ATX 2.0 unit?

along the lines of glc's post, saving on the zalman, extra case fan (do you really need it?), and maybe a cheaper/smaller-feature-set mobo would put you closer to getting a 2gb ram kit, which will make a huge difference for gaming and day to day multitasking.

Dunno, Cricket.
If "future" means waiting till April, the C2D's will be a lot cheaper too - and the E6320/E6420's will be out with double the cache. |

I'd suggest a P5B motherboard, they come highly recommended here and are solid.

P5B's aren't the only motherboards on the planet, NB.

Yes, that's definitely right, the only reason I suggested the P5B is because it is cheaper than the Abit and is probably a better board. Ultimately, it is probably a toss up, the Abit is probably fine, but I don't know because I've only used the P5B.
I'm sorry, I shouldn't try to talk the OP into something else. Last edited by newbuilder14; 01-31-2007 at 02:21 PM. |

That particular Abit board is actually getting some really decent reviews. Did you compare features? That board has a lot more on it than the base P5B.

Wasn't too popular at first, but is coming up to be a good budget board.
