Which cpu should I get?

I'm trying to make the most out of my current build right now and i'm trying to upgrade it as far as i can... It's a 939 socket, so theres not much to choose from now. Which cpu should i get that is 300 or lower? I'm probably upgrading my psu to 550w, my video card to bfg geforce 7800gs, and 2gb of memory. the computer is being used for working and gaming.

If you are upgrading your cpu, vid card, ram, and PSU why not just go the extra mile and get the whole new computer? I see far more advantages over doing a rebuild than an upgrade at this point. Just a thought. What CPU do you currently have? I will go from there on which one you should get for an upgrade. You can also compare and contrast and look at prices and specs on new egg. Sometimes just hunting around is extremely useful.

I don't want to get a whole new computer yet. Probably will want to get one in a year or two because I sort of want to get a really high end computer later, and right now, the prices for those dx10 video cards are wayyy too high up for me, wouldn't want to buy a video card now and get rid of it later.
