Are these components compatible?
Hey there, I am currently building a LOW budget system for my little brother. I know a lot about components in a PC but would like a second opinion on the components i have chosen would be compatible with each other.
Monitor: Not really an issue but here it is anyway. Vusys WIDESCREEN HD14W 14.1" 350:1 15ms (1280 x 800) Silver MultiMedia TFT Monitor from: http://www.ebuyer.com Case: Casecom Silver Mid-Tower Gaming Case - With 350W PSU from: http://www.ebuyer.com MoBo: Foxconn SKT939 Nforce4-SLI chipset DDR400 Dual Gigabit LAN SATAII ATX Motherboard from: http://www.ebuyer.com Memory: Ebuyer 512mb DDR PC3200 400MHz 184pin from: http://www.ebuyer.com HDD: Not really an issue. Seagate ST3802110A Barracuda 80GB 7200RPM ATA/100 2MB Cache - OEM from: http://www.ebuyer.com DVD ROM: Again not really an issue. Samsung 18x DVD1RW/RAM DL Int Drive Black - OEM from: http://www.ebuyer.com CPU: AMD 64 3000+ Socket 939 from: I already have this and building around it If there's anybody who has the time to check over this would be great and appreciated. |

You may want a larger monitor if you are going to be gaming or just for general use.
That case is probably fine but the power supply is probably generic and I wouldn't trust it. Fortron Source an Antec are good brands. That motherboard is compatible but for a low budget system, drop the SLI idea and go for a higher quality Asus A8N series. That memory is probably generic, I'd go for something from Corsair. You'll want an SATA hard drive, they are the norm nowadays. Retail DVD burners are just a bit more and include software. Have you checked out Overclockers.co.uk?

If you're building around that processor, then your options are limited. Good Socket 939 motherboards are VERY difficult to find.
I'd normally recommend Overclockers.co.uk, but they don't stock any budget 939 boards. Foxconn are an OK manufacturer, and that one has a decent chipset. Out of the 3 boards ebuyer stock, that's the one I'd go for. Forget that Casecom Power supply, it's junk. This is a decent case, and it comes with a QUALITY power supply. http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/112648/rb/25086956126 Definitely avoid the Ebuyer memory, get this instead: http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/53917 FK
