CD/DVD drive recognition issue
I built my first computer about a month ago. A week ago, I discovered that my CD/DVD drive wasn't always showing up in Windows XP. The drive would always have power and still does. I can open the ruddy thing, put discs in, and at the very least, have the drive spin them. The problem is that none of this seems to register with my system. AT this point, I've been without drive recognition for 4 days. It's an LG drive from New Egg, and it won't even show up in BIOS. I have it plugged into IDE1 on my ABIT Ultra motherboard. The IDE cable is connected and tomorrow I will be getting a new cable to see if that's the problem. Any other suggested coarses of action? The only thing that changed between it working normally and working intermittently was my installation of Alcohol 120.
