Need some assistance on my build, to make sure i got everything correct:
Here are the parts i am looking at purchasing: Processor - Intel C2D E6600 2.4ghz http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115003 CPU Fan - Zalman CNPS9500 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835118223 Motherboard - Asus P5B-E http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131070 Memory - Corsair XMS2 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145590 Hard Drive - Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 Perpendicular Drive 250gb http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148144 ATX Case - Thermaltake Tsunami http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811133137 PSU - FSP Group 450w http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817104954 Video Card (1) - PNY GeForce 8800GTS http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814133188 OS Vista Business or Ultimate (Will Dual boot with xp pro since i already have a copy of it) Monitors (2) Dell 22" Widescreen http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/p...4&sku=320-5205 Please let me know how this looks and if i need to modify it at all. How is the video card on this configuration? will one suffice, or do you recommend two? Im looking at getting a video card with DX10 for Vista. I dont plan on gaming on this to much, and the games i would play are hardly demanding ie: tiger woods golf, sim city, maybe the occasional war game, mainly use it for Adobe products ie: photoshop, illustrator, in design, dreamweaver, etc, along with ripping DVD's and watch dvd's as well. I already have the floppy drive, Dual Layer burner and dvd rom drive for this system.

Looks good except for maybe the PSU. The combo of the 8800, E6600, and the RAM you might need a bit more power, but I am not 100% on that. I think I would go with at least a 750W to make sure you have enough power for everything and possible future upgrades. I could be wrong though. I never have been able to figure out the wattage I need based on the parts.

You need a stronger power supply for that beast of a video card. Look at the Corsair 520HX as a minimum.

Will one PNY 8800GTS video card suffice for the work i plan on doing on this machine?
Do you have any other recommendations for video cards, or is this one a good choice? I decided to go with this PSU to give me enough power for this pc: CORSAIR CMPSU-620HX ATX12V v2.2 and EPS12V 2.91 620W Power Supply http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139002 Anyone have any feedback on these Acer AL2223Wd Black-Silver 22" 5ms DVI Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 800:1 monitors? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824009102 How do they compare to the Dell 22" monitors? the specs look identical to the Dell's except for the built in speakers but i could really care less about those. Also, whats with the "Windows Vista Certified" stamp on the ACER monitors????? |

Everything looks great except for the power supplies as everyone mentioned - it's a good one but you'll need more power - the Corsair HX520 is good. Acer monitors are good, too, as well as Dell, Samsung, ViewSonic, and BenQ.

Maybe i need to rephrase the question about the Monitors.....
If you had to choose which monitors to purchase the Acer 22" wide screens or the Dell 22" wide screens listed above , which one(s) would you choose and why? Does one of these outshine, or blow away the other? or is the difference between them not even noticeable? I know the Dell is HDCP compliant, im not sure if the Acer is those, so im wondering if that is really the only difference between them. i have seen the dell get mixed reviews, some say its great others say it sucks, others say its to bright, so im trying to figure out if they really are bad. i know the Dell 24" are excellent but i dont want to drop $1300+ to get two of them. Again, i am not a hard core gamer by any means, maybe the occasional, game but nothing to graphic intense, mostly running Photoshop, Illustrator, In Design, Dreamweaver, as well as watching movies, ripping/backing up as well, browsing net, email, office, convert videos to mpeg, avi etc occasionally.....I hope that paints a big enough picture for what i will be using this PC for. |

I would get the Acer. The new Dell 22" has not yet proven itself to be the same quality as some of their other, more established monitors. Specs-wise they are very similar.
Acer has another model that offers HDCP if that is important.

Too bad you can't actually go into a store and compare those monitors side by side. I have heard one of the best ways to see which monitor is better is to flood the screen with text and then see which monitor has a clearer picture. Samsung and LG are at the top of the heap on LCD's with regards to clarity.
