HDD recognition
I built a new system from Newegg parts. I used the ASUS P5W DH mobo, E6600 Duo, 7950GT graphics card, 2GB DDR2 800 ram and various other components and I am running XP media center with service patch 2. I am quite happy with it but I have one problem. When I first configured the system I installed a WG 320 GB SATA HD. I have just added a Seagate 500 SATA 3.0. The system recognizes the drive through the set up program and so does windows when I go to hardware setup. It says hardware installed and running properly. However, when I look under MY Computer it only shows the first drive C: Do I have to format the second drive before it will be recognized? How do I do it?
Thanks |

Yes, you need to format.
To to it: Start/run type in: diskmgnt.msc This will take you to Disk Management, should see the second HD labeled as "unallocated partion" Click on the space(it should hi-lite it), click on the ACTION tab and select format.
