Got all my parts now I have questions.
I am using the COOLER MASTER Centurion 5 CAC-T05-UW case with the ASUS P5B LGA 775 Intel P965 Express ATX Intel Motherboard.
Should I connect the front and rear case fans to the available motherboard connectors or directly to the power supply? The case has a wire coming from the front with a series of female plugs: HD Audio, AC97, and many little single plugs. I understand where to hook it up on the P5B but what's the difference if I hook up the HD audio or the AC97 plug? Also what are all the little single plugs? I am using (1) Sata hard Drive, (1) Sata DVD Player, and (1) Sata DVD Burner. The owners manual only really talks about hooking up the Sata HD. There are 4 Sata connections on the mother board. I assume I hook the HD to SATA1 and then does it matter how I connect the sata connections for the the DVD Burner vs the DVD Player? I apologize for these newbie questions, it's been a long time since I have assembled a rig. Thanks for your help. deck Last edited by deck99; 02-09-2007 at 08:43 PM. |

The motherboard connectors should be safe if it's only 2 fans and they have the proper connector.
All the little single plugs are probably for the front USB - and possibly the power switch, LED's, etc. No need to hook up audio unless you want those front panel jacks to work. Nope, just plug the sata cables in wherever. |

I used that case, and I opted for the HD Audio cable since that is what is recommended by Asus. Have not had much luck with it (for the mic, the headphones are okay), so you may want to try AC'97.
Your motherboard, since it is high quality, should be able to handle your case fans with no problem. Right now I run both of my LED fans full speed off my P5B with no problems at all.

You take a screwdriver to pry off the front bezel slightly right behind the silver edges. It will loosen and you can pull it off.

I assume you have to take it off to get the mesh pieces out so you can install your dvd drives, etc?

Don't remember off the back of my head, but that sounds right... you have to clear out the rectangular area only for that drive bay.
