Up and running...now a few questions.
Hi everyone,
My new rig is up and running, not sure what is required next and why. I went with an Asus P5B mobo. I booted up and went into the bios setup utility. I looked at my memory to make sure it was correct, I looked at the SATA drives and they all look correct. I intend to run a pure stock system. The P5B users manual talks about managing and updating your bios. Do I have to do this now? At some point am I required to make a boot disk? I am not sure what is "required" before loading my OS. Right or wrong with past computers I just poped in the XP home disk and fired up the computer and proceeded from there. Thanks, deck |

You can check your BIOS version in the BIOS and check ASUS site to see if your board has the latest version. I load windows first and then check for any MOBO updates.

No need to update the bios unless you feel it necessary to. If its running fine, dont mess with it.
Boot disk usually ties in with updating the bios. Not really, unless you have a need for any of the drivers asus offers in their provided floppy. Right, just boot with the XP cd and follow the instructions from there.
