New build, video issues.
I built a new computer for a friend today and everything seemed fine. Booted up on the first try windows installed with no issue. Then I went to install the drivers and everything was good until I did the video driver. After installing it (the latest version) i rebooted the computer and then once it loaded windows before i got to the desktop my moniter cut out and would not display anything. So at first I tried a better display, same thing. I figured a bad drivers, rebooted in safe mode and un-installed it, then everything was normal again. I tried loading an older driver and I got the same thing, I un-installed that in safe mode and now there is no driver installed and i can get into windows, except now it is messed up even when first booting the computer, when in the BIOS and when loading windows there are some odd lines going though the screen. Is the video card defective? Or some incompatbilty with the MB? For specs see this link

I hope so, I am pretty sure it is the card, I tired both PCI-E slots on the MB with the same result. Right now I put an old PCI video card in there so I could set the system up, everything is running perfect, system temps are great, the system is stable and runs fast as hell. I am pretty sure if the MB was messed up I would be having some other stability issues. I guess there is a chance it could be the power supply, but that is a good unit and the card should not be taxed for power when loading windows. I am going to try a 7900GS although it is getting hard for me to recommend evga with this card dead out of the box and the issues I am having with my older 7800GT… |

Just giving an update in case anyone has a similar issue in the future and seaches this, it was the video card, he replaced it with a 7900GS today and everything seems great now.
