Unable to save BIOS settings
Hi,
I am trying to install OS into my PC from CD drive. When I looked at the BIOS settings, CD drive is disabled. I changed it is enable and tried to save the BIOS settings. When I looked at all options are disabled and only option available is to come out without saving the changes. So it is not getting possible to install OS from the CD. Could any one let me know how I can change the BIOS settings or is it possible to load new BIOS in PC if so how. Cheers Chandra |

What kind of computer is this? Home built or name brand?
If home built please list all the parts by brand and model including the power supply. Cricket

We need your specs.
If this is an OEM tell us the maker and the name and model number ( Dell , etc.) if it's a homebuild or was built for you tell us what's in it. Motherboard and so on. How long have you had it and so on. Tell us, as exactly as you can, what you've tried, you sound as if you're misreading something. You shouldn't have to do more then hit F10 to save and exit.

I brought the system from my company (IT company). So they deleted all software and sold the PC's. It is IBM one with Pentium 4 processor. I don't know much about other things.

The bios is probably locked, you may want to contact the IT manager.

Company computers can be deliberately crippled both as a security measure and to keep users from changing settings when IT would rather they didn't. If this is the case then IT should have told you before they sold you the computer. If they can't or won't tell you how to reverse it then you have to decide if it's worth your time and energy to get into an argument with them over this. You may be able to clear the cmos and return the bios to factory defaults so ask them about that as well . |
