new build mouse dead

Finally got my puter together:
P5B-E
E6600
Liteon DVD
7900 GS KO
Seagate 320
no floppy disk

It booted up with no problems. I installed XP with no problems. Everything worked fine until I tried to get the drivers off the mobo CD.
Now my mouse and keyboard will not work after windows loads.
During re-booting I am able to get into the BIOS.
If I boot off of the DVD drive with the mobo support CD I am requested to make a RAID driver disk. ?
I have only 1 HD. I want only 1 HD.
I have everything in BIOS at default settings.
Any help will be appreciated.

Thank you.

Try a PS/2 keyboard and mouse. Clear the bios with the jumper and set it up again. If you can get it into Windows and have some control, check device manager for flagged devices.

I cleared the BIOS. I have use of the keyboard only.
Everything under USB controllers in the device manager has an exclamation mark beside it.

From the mobo CD?
I successfully loaded the driver for the ethernet controller (which was flagged, also) from the mobo CD.
When I try to do the same for the USB devices, it shows that I need to troubleshoot stating that driver may be corrupt or missing.
Under the "Driver" tab I have the option to update, rollback or uninstall. I don't want to make things worse so I will ask what to do beforehand.
As you can see, I am at most a novice. But this has been a lot of fun. So far.

One more thing. When I open the support CD thru MY Computer, it has my cursor stuck in one spot and I'm unable to use my keyboard for any actions then.

Thanks for your time and help.

The first driver you need to install is the Intel chipset driver. As said, use a PS/2 keyboard and mouse till you get the USB flags to clear and make sure you don't have any other USB devices connected - and remove the front panel USB connectors from the motherboard headers.

I finally got the mouse free thanks to your help.
I'm letting the Asus InstAll do it's thing.

Thanks again.

This was the problem I had with my build, but instead I just re-installed windows and passed on the intel chipset driver update. Everything appears to work fine, is this update needed, and if so can I install it now as long as I get a PS2 keyboard/mouse?

Thanks!
