I'm new to this.

Well this is all new to me, I'm looking to build myself a PC (of course). Anyway, here's what I've come up with, could you guys help me out please, tell me what's good, what could be better etc. My range was £1,500.

Anyway here it is;

Hard-drive: 2x Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=HD-078-SE
(is there any point in me getting 2? i was just wondering because i'll be doing alot of downloading, like movies, games, music so i was unsure)

Processor: Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=CP-128-IN

Motherboard: Asus P5B-E Plus - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=MB-219-AS

Graphics Card: BFG 8800GTS OC 320MB DDR3 Dual DVI PCI-E - http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...uct_uid=125183

PSU: Hiper HPU-4M670 Type R 670W ATX2.2 - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=CA-010-HP

DVD Re-Writer: Sony AW-G170AB2 18x DVD±RW x12 Ram Dual Layer DVD-Writer - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=CD-054-SO

Monitors: Samsung SM-226BW 22" Widescreen LCD - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=MO-050-SA

Samsung SM-920N 19" LCD - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=MO-043-SA

Operating System: Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=SW-041-MS

I'm un-sure whether to get Windows Vista but I'm edging more to the yes option than no. Could you please tell me if I'm missing anything aswell. I'm happy to take any advice, thank you.

Oh and of course the RAM, I can't really find any but I'm looking for maybe two 1 gig sticks. Also a case, I need one of those.

Looks good. The older hiper type R's weren't the greatest, but the 670w+ versions are actually high quality server models. Should serve you good.

Corsair valueselect or XMS2 for ram.

And stay away from Vista 64bit. Its an absolute nightmare right now..if you must, stick to 32bit.

Is there anything I could improve on within price range in my list? Also are those reasonable prices?

You might consider going for a SATA DVD Burner (see the sticky thread on the subject of P965 based builds, at the top of this forum, for the reason). Unfortunately, Overclockers do not stock any as yet. Here's a vendor that does - their delivery prices are very reasonable.

Your system looks good to me apart from that. Overclockers' prices are pretty competitive.

Depends on how far of an overclock your planning to do. For beginners I too suggest the Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800. Should offer a pretty decent overclock without breaking the bank.

And dont even bother with CAS4 versions, they are the exact same things rebranded.

That ram is very good I have Corsiar XMS Enxreme in mine its a CAS 3. I hear Vista is really no more of an improvement over XP.. I won't buy it at least not until it has been out for a while, and they fix all the bugs....

He was talking about these:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=MY-092-CS

FYI, the Dominators CAS4, XMS2 CAS5, XMS2 CAS4 are all the same thing. Just different labeling and SPDs.

I think these should be enough for the board you have chosen. I would suggest some Micron based Cellshock or Crucial, or G.Skill HZ memory, but sometimes they won't boot out of the box due to the voltage requirement on the Micron D9GMH chips they use being high. Like 2.1-2.3v. However these are the Creme de la creme of overclocking memories.

I personally think you should be fine with the XMS2 I linked.

If you plan to save the movies, etc. that you're downloading, you will be suprised at how quickly you'll fill up a hard drive. You can always burn your movies and other downloads to save drive space, or get a less expensive external drive for downloads and backups.
What about a case?

Movies are about a gig max, if I have 2 hard drives at 320 gig then I definetly wont be filling it.
