All my parts arrived 2 days ago and now my comp is built. Every thing went some what smooth, had some minor problems, but i fixed them. my comp starts up fine and all the fans spin(i hate the heatsink/fan that the 6600 comes with fells like the motherboards going to brake when u put it in) it comes up with my p5b deluxe first then it ask me to restart and select a boot devices so i did my lite-on dvd cd burner came up so i selected it, but it wont boot it. It cant seem to read the disk or something else is wrong. mybe my cables are hooked up wrong or im messing something dont think so. Mybe its just the disk, because i got it from a teacher he burnt it him self any. Any one have any ideas or suggestions?

Did you set the jumper on the drive to cable select?

Could be a bad disk.

Use a genuine CD. We can't support the use of burned copies.

Windows licenses (key codes) are to only be installed on 1 system unless you are using a Retail verison and that can be transferred to machine to machine. It would need uninstalled from the previous machine before installing on another.
If this key code you have is already being used on another system you cannot installed the O.S. using this same key code. This is illegal and you may also jepordize the other system it is installed on if you try to activate it on another install.

Here is a suggestion for ya. Get a free legit copy of a Linux OS like Ubuntu if you don't feel like paying for or can't afford a Microsoft Product. I am even willing to send you an original Ubuntu CD if you PM me your address.

Your heatsink is not installed correctly. All 4 posts MUST snap fully into the motherboard holes, then be locked with a 1/4 turn. Do this with the motherboard OUT of the case so you can SEE the backside of the board.

You can leave the CPU and ram on the board - everything else has to come off it to get it out.

ok good thats the way i did it. i took a look befor removing it only one was fully snaped in the other 3 where about half way in it took alot of pressure to get all 4 to stay in with out one snaping back out even with turn them and all, but it worked great. i was scared i broke my mother board. until it started up cpu is now usly 38C great. im still trying to get a disk if i cant then im going to buy vist 64 bit. thanks for all the help, glc thanks if i didnt do it out of the board i probly wouldnt have got all 4 in again.
