Hard drive compatible with Motherboard?
Hi,
Im trying to replace my harddrive for my pc...i did some research to see if i can hack it as a builder so question is: My motherboard is an elite group P4xasd2+, not sure if that helps...but the specs for it says it can support ata's of 133/100/66...I found a hard drive that is 200GB SATA/150 8 MB 7200 RPM will that work? I've read in quite a few places that says ATA-100 and ATA-133 are no of significant difference...should I stick to 133 or can i go ahead and try SATA...but will it work for this motherboard? Thank... |

No, a SATA drive will not be compatible. This drive would work just fine, other manufactures to look at would be Western Digital, and Maxtor.

I agree with FLG and go with the Seagate. Best warranty of any HD manufacturers.

In order to use a SATA drive with that motherboard, you will need a PCI SATA controller card.
