First time builder installing Vista

Here is my setup:

Core 2 duo 6600 cpu
Asus P5b wifi deluxe mobo
(2) WD SATA 300mb hdd (no RAID)
Plextor SATA DVD copier/drive
Vista deluxe os

I have checked BIOS at least 800 times.
When I attempt to load Vista, I get to a page that says something like Space0 ,Space1,"Space not allocated for drives". When I continue anyway, when I load the ASUS support disc, I eventually get a message that no drivers were found. The ASUS booklet says SATA hd's will not function until os is installed. I added An IDE dvd drive configured to the IDE port, set it to boot first and still no luck. I've got a chicken and an egg, but I need a rooster.

Here is how it should go. Go into BIOS, set DVD drive as first boot device, insert vista disc while still in BIOS, save & exit BIOS, computer will reboot and Vista install will run, and then follow the instructions to install onto the sata drive. Remove the IDE drive. You shouldn't need it.

The Asus drivers do not need to be installed until after Windows is installed. And in the case of Vista, you probobly don't want to use the drivers on the CD. You would want to go to the Asus website for the latest drivers.
