Intel vs AMD build competition

A freind and me competed in building a computer....and compared afterwards

He made an amd build and i made an Intel build and we had certain rules to follow

The build had to be under $800 and had to have the essential parts...cpu, hdd, gpu, psu, optic, case, mobo, ram and if absolutly needed then cooling

we suptracted rebates from the total

sorry in advance from just being links but its 6am and im bout to finally go to bed

This is my build of Intel

cpu - cpu

mobo - mobo

gfx - x2 SLI - gpu

psu - psu

optic - optic

hdd - hdd

ram - ram

case - case

cpu=$222

mobo=$96.99

gfx=$119.99 x2 = 239.98 -$20.00 rebate x2=$40 Total=$199.98

psu=$69.99 -$30 rebate Total=$39.99

optic=$35.99

hdd=44.99

ram=$99.99 -$10.00 reabte Total=$89.99

case=$16.99

shipping=$34.93

Grand Total=$746.92
Grand Total w/shipping= $781.85

Short and Basic description

This is an 800 doller Intel build. It has a Conroe E6400 2.13GHz great for overclocking. It features 2x512mb DDR2 667 sticks of ram.
The motherboard is not a brand name its a JetWay 775GT1-LOGE LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 570 SLI but has great espansion capability topping out at 16 gigs of ram and is SLI Comptible.
This computers graphics should last a while and run any game on the market. It boast 2 7600GTs' for SLI performance. The hard drive is an 80 gig Seagate Barracuda 7200.10.
The optic drive is a cheap $35 LG 16X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 12X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM 2MB Cache IDE DVD Burner With LightScribe technology.
The case for this computer is to be desired while i was running out of money and options all ready sacraficing a larger hdd i wound up with a cheap 18 doller case.
To top the computer off and keep it running i needed a lot of power output i wound up getting a Antec SmartPower 2.0 SP-500 ATX12V 500W Power Supply.

Now his build AMD

case - Case = $25.98

psu - PSU = $41.63

mobo - mobo = $45.52

ram -ram 2gb = $154.96

gpu - GPU = $196.12

cpu - CPU = $219 -free ship

hdd - HDD = $60.93

cooling-heatsink/fan= $14.98

optic - optical= $34.63

cooling (fan)-80mm case fan $6.98

total = $800.73

Description **

Powerful dual core 939 cpu with 2gb of ram and a 7900gt graphics card. Comes with a 160gb hard drive and a 430W power supply. The one downside is the inferior case, but what works works. Cooling shouldn't be a problem with the powerful heatsink/ fan combo for the cpu (even with overclocking) and the ram has heatspreaders so that shouldn't be a big issue either. However, just to be cautious, and wise, I put an 80mm fan as well.

We would like comments on each build as it is a competition of sorts....now obviously the intel will be better...so its not that type but basically to see who could use the 800$ best

Its interesting to be honest, when tests are done real ingame performance isnt different atall as far as X2 vs C2D goes, C2D is still the better performer and does top off AMD slightly in games but at stock they arent much different (in games).

Why are we starting yet another AMD vs. Intel thread?

With the comparative specs of those 2 systems, you are comparing apples to oranges. You do not have anything even CLOSE to a valid comparison.
