nothing showing up on screen

hi, i turn my computer on for the first time and they is nothing showing up on the screen.

i have checked the cpu, ram & graphics card, they are all in properly

it might be because i am using a 20 pin power suply unit on a 24 pin motherboard, do you think this would be the problem

Looks like you have your answer for the last part in this thread.

Before you try to power up (after you get the appropriate power supply), pull the motherboard from the case and try to get POST with the core parts out of the case to verify everything works properly. Core parts are the motherboard, CPU, CPU heatsink, RAM, video, monitor, keyboard, power supply and the PC case speaker. Once you know these parts are good, then you install them in the case.

Have you followed the steps EXACTLY as Cricket detailed? They're also outlined in this thread:

http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=132409

Have you connected both the 24 pin power connector, AND the Auxiliary 4 pin power connector to the motherboard?

Please also provide your full system specs - including the brand and model of your power supply.

Connect a case speaker to the motherboard (if the case speaker is attached to the case, move the case close to the board so that the wire will reach). Disconnect the video card and the RAM, then try and power up. Do you hear any beeps? (the board should beep multiple times in error).

With regard to the power supply, you've replaced low quality with low quality. Even though the 'Trust' power supply has a 24 pin main power connector, it's of very low quality. I'd look into returning it for a quality model - something like this would be suitable:

http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/90613/rb/25471698171

(I'm guessing that you bought your parts from ebuyer, and that you live in the UK from the case and power supply brand - correct me if I'm wrong)

I have only seen that once - and that was 7 years ago on an Asus CUSL2-C board. Never could figure out *why*.

Double check to see if your voltages in BIOS are around specification. I don't think Trust is a great brand. Also, that memory is not the best for the AM2 problem, so it *may* decrease your performance. But, if your voltages are fine and your memory isn't causing any noticeable slowdown, you should be okay.
