New bulid No video
started the computer up and all fans run and reset button works but no video. took pc mechanic advise and took out all components. still nothing. I guess I am trying to figure out if it is the motherboard or the video card. I have a Gigabyte Ga-965p-dq6 and a core duo 1.8ghz. My video card is a bfggr76256gtoce 7600gt 256m. My power supply is a raidmax rx-630a and I am running two 512m corsair twin2x. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you made sure the PCI-E power connector is connected to the video card?

You're right, your specific card does not require a dedicated power connector. If the system is out of the case with just the core components connected, and you still get no video, then you have a faulty component, or something is not connected correctly.
Double and triple check the video card and the RAM is fully seated. Make sure you've connected both the 24 pin main power connector, and the auxiliary 4 pin power connector to the motherboard. FK

If your system is not POST-ing out of the case, then any one of the core components could be faulty - not necessarily your video card.
Do you have any spare components that you can substitute in to test? FK |

unfortunatly no I am sending the mohterboard back because it was the most expensive. if it turns out to be the video card then I am only out 70 dollars. one more question is gigabyte a good brand? I don't see a lot of support for them on the forums.

Before you do that, try connecting a case speaker to the motherboard when it's built out of the case (if the case speaker is part of the front panel connectors in the case itself, just position the case close enough to the board so that the wire will reach). Then disconnect the RAM, and the video card. When you power up, does the system beep multiple times in error?
To answer your question, Gigabyte is a decent brand - not as consistently high quality as ASUS, but by no means the worst. FK |

yes I did that and got no beeps what so ever. From what I have done I belive it is the mobo going to rma it back to newegg. I have also read on the forums that a raidmax powersupply is not a good power supply seemed to work fine to me.

It's very difficult to point the finger at an exact part, but from what you've told me there, I'd say the motherboard was the most likely culprit. Hope a replacement gets the system working.
No, Raidmax power supplies aren't the best. Turning on correctly does not make a quality power supply - it's all about the internal specifications and the quality and stability of the power it provides. You can certainly get better for the money, but the specifications on that unit are decent enough - it conforms to ATX2 specs - and the video card you have will not tax it excessively. FK |

Yeah, let us know.
It could be: Memory incompatibility, which could be solved by a bios update. I would stick with Asus & Epox Mainboards. I'm having similar problems to yours, but with an Abit Mainboard. Good luck. I hope you get the help you need. |

I am back same problem I had before Surrender Earthling mentioned memory incompatibility so I did some research and concluded that I had the right memory. Wither it works or not I don't know the manufacturer thinks it is either memory or video card. Replaced mother board once. Don't think it is that. How likely is it that both brand new corsair memory sticks don't work right out of the box? Now I am leaning toward the video card. Unfortunately the other two video cards I have are both AGP. Any suggestion guys? thanks in advance.

Still no beeps when you set the system up exactly the same way as before (out of the case)? Still no beeps when you disconnect the RAM and the Video card?
If that's the case, then I'd lean towards a DOA Power Supply - have you substituted a known working unit in to test yet? FK |

Well All the fans run. But I do have a known working power supply but I think it is a 300 watt I don't think it would be enough. Would it? I can try it.

Fans running means very little.
Try the 300W....it should handle a minimum (no cd drives, no harddrive, 1 stick of ram, etc) build ok. If it works, you have your answer!

Could even try the 300w power supply in the board without the video card and RAM installed - to try and get the machine to beep in error. If it does beep, then you know the Raidmax unit is dead.
The main connector on the 300w won't be 24 Pin, but I believe that Gigabyte boards will boot up with just a 20 pin unit connected. Make sure you connect the 20 pin connector to Pins 1-20 on the motherboard, and not pins 4-24 (if you see what I mean there). The manual should detail which is pin 1, and which is pin 24 on the connector. That PSU WILL need to have the 4 pin Aux connector in order for this test to be worthwhile, though. Without it connected, the system will not boot. FK |

Looks like you may have found your culprit. Look at a quality 450w Power supply as a replacement - Antec is a good brand, and readily available if you're buying from a high street vendor. If you're ordering from Newegg, I'd suggest this:
