New Build no video

Hi i just finished putting together my first build.

All of my fan led's turn on. All of my fans including the cpu and video card turn on. I also get a green led on my mobo.

Heres what happens: I have my video card with a dvi to vga adapter, when i turn my comp on all fans + led's turn on, the monitor goes from having a green led to an orange one.

Heres my specs:

PNY 8800gts 640mb

E6600 @ 2.4ghz

raidmax 630w PSU

ASUS P5B

THX for help in advance.

Did you remember to plug in all necessary power connections to the motherboard? The 24 pin and the 4 pin connectors?

Does that power suppy have a 24 pin or 20 pin power connector for the motherboard?

Did you plug in a PCI-Express 16 power connector to that video card (if it has one)?

RaidMax power supplies aren't very good quality and you may have a dud.

You may want to get a better quality power supply (especially considering the video card you have).

Can you elaborate on how you know the power supply is good quality? Usually RaidMax has a reputation of bad, poor quality power supplies. I would see if you could switch that with another just to verify it is good.

The Raidmax may power the Dell but your build has a monster video card that requires strong clean 12v.

Okay - you may have the 20+4 plugged in, but do you have the 4 pin aux plugged in too - and power plugged into the video card itself?

That is normal when the video card is not working - due to a bad card or any other bad component or misconfiguration preventing a POST.
