Great build. You're going to love it. I just have a small problem with that power supply. I'd get something beefier actually. That mobo is great and has great overclocking capability (though you won't need to).

I'm guessing that in order to create the best PC for your needs, that you may upgrade the ram in a year or so and in order to future proof it til the year 2050 you could probably add another one of those 8800's in there and really make it a beast (that's why I say perhaps get a beefier power supply).

I'd personally save cash on the cpu cooler you chose. I'd replace the ZALMAN 9700 LED 110mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler with a cheaper alternative (there are much better deals that will work just as well) and instead put more into the power supply perhaps.

But, if your planning on sli with those two cards, I would personally go with a Etasis ET-750.

Otherwise you dont really need the fans for the ram, the ram already runs cool enough. Personal choice though.

Not personally a fan of MSI, would prefer Evga or BFG. Nitpicking though.

yea Mr. Ferrari is right... I'd probably recommend Evga over MSI any day, and BFG is great as well, but MSI seems to have shaped things up.

Great case too, but I think that some of the other cases in that price range look nicer (like the thermaltake armor series or w/e)

But like Mr. Ferrari said, we are pretty much just nitpicking. You have a great build going there (even a surge protector lol).

ive never heard of etasis before, can u speak to their value and reliability?

Etasis make some of silverstone's high end units. Etasis actually originally makes server powersupplies. Some of the best in the world.

The reason why I suggested the Etasis version over the Silverstone (st75zf) is that the Etasis version comes with the 4 pci-e connectors you'll need for SLI with two 8800GTX's.

Or a PC POWER & COOLING SILENCER 750 QUAD. Excellent Power Supply. That's also a lot of money for a glorified C2D. Why not just get an E6600, save 500 bucks, and get a Quad Core when the real ones come out later this year?

Get a Lite On DVD burner, it's great quality, good price, it's available and make sure you order retail so you can get Nero burning software no extra charge.

Kinda like what has been said already, you'll be happy with this build. I want to enforce the E6600 decision, as well as beefier PSU.

As for the cooler...its not bad, but as DarkPacMan said, there are some units that are cheaper and will do a similar or better job. Take a look at Cooler Master, or a Tuniq Tower. Something that is lighter (I guess the tower doesn't fit that description too well) and has a lot of real estate. I like the heat to be dispersed very widely to avoid a hot spot, so that's all I would say.

okay my budget would either allow me to get 2x8800gtx and the e6700 cpu OR 1x8800gtx and the QX6700...........which is the better performer

i will be gaming, doing some programming, lot of photo/video editing

would i have to get a bigger case or could i stick with a midtower if i went SLI

Hmmm, dual core seems to me to be just fine for those purposes. Having dual 8800's will really put you over the top!

Multi-core technology is so new there are hardly any proggies that can take advantage of it in dual core, let alone quad. So, stick with dual.

Yeah, I'd go for a full tower. And an ample PSU.

With the 8800 video cards, they need a case that is at least 19" long or the card could block the HD cage. That size of case is a large mid-tower or regular full tower.

Quad core CPU: Gaming/probably no extra boost at this time(no games support quads)
If editing programs can use 4 cores then it would a good choice.

There isn't a CPU made that won't throttle a pair of 8800GTX's. I'd get ONE card, and if you want quad core, get a Q6600.

I doubt there's one much cheaper than can handle TWO 8800GTX's - check the certified list at slizone.com. There's only 13 certified units.

glc is right. You need some heavy duty power to make that system shine, so I wouldn't go very cheap. I didn't see any monitors or peripherals on that list. Did you need those as well? Sometimes people forget about them and end up adding an unexpected 200-600 dollars to the end of their budget.

ive got a razor copperhead and pad already, keyboard is coverd...im possibly considering a monitor, any suggestions that will shine with the dual 8800gtx

Depends. If you are doing any editing you may want 2 monitors, in which case I have the perfect suggestion for you. However, you might wanna go with a widescreen instead. Depends what you want.

Yeah, thats true, but the only time he'll end up really benefiting from SLI will be in games. Then he could just set it back up. It's not that tough to do it, and he just might be able to use the extra real estate.
