Previous OS on new build
I was wondering, if I take my old HDD with Xp on it which was originally for a dell and put it on a new build, would Xp work as soon as I booted up or would I encounter problems?

You'd encounter problems. The hard drive would start to look for the DELL motherboard BIOS and when it doesn't find it, it'll stop booting up.

Ya I have tried that before using my HDD from my HP media center and plugging it into another machine in order to get rid of a virus and it was unsuccessful. To my knowledge this just applies to Pre-Built computers such as dell and HP, I have swaped Windows drives between custom PC's without a problem.
