SPECS:
Asus P5LD2 Deluxe motherboard(Intel 775) Intel core 2 duo 1066 FSB 1 GB DDR2 PC5300 DIMM(corsair) 300 GB Seagate SATA HD PNY GeForce 7600 GS PCI Express 512 MB video card Thermaltake Tsunami Dream ATX mid-tower w/ 400w ps Problem: I am getting power to the motherboard(verified by standby LED), and when I make all connections and attempt power up, I get the CPU, and 2 of 3 chassis fans spinning(the exhaust fan spun once, but has not since). The BIOS does not pop up, and it appears that the hard drive and DVD drive are not getting power(as I cannot eject the DVD drive) I have verified jumpers and all connection cables twice....what else could be the problem here?

What is the brand and model# of the PSU?
Check to make sure that the 4 pins on the CPU heatsink are fully locked in.

the PSU is a Thermaltake 400w model XP480
and i did check the pins on the CPU heatsink....it appears that one is sort of loose...though every time i adjust it, it always leaves one thats just slightly loose....the fan and heatsink appear to be firmly attatched to the mb though- are there contacts on the pins? |

If the PSU is one that came with the case, it appears to be an older ATX 1.0. Your system needs an ATX 2.0 that has a 20+4 ATX plug AND a 2x2 4 pin CPU plug. If the 12v amps are 17amps(from what I can find) that's low to even start the system.

Good quality and price. Your motherboard may not support Core 2 Duo CPUs, looks like the only one in the P5LD2 series is the R2.0 version. Last edited by flanzig1; 03-04-2007 at 05:55 PM. |

All 4 pins must be completely snapped down and locked with a twist. Do this with the motherboard OUT of the case.
