I need a little help
Okay so this my first build, and I really don't know what I am doing. Its not that I'm completely lost, but after having everything, all put in the places the parts should be, and all the power cables hooked up, going to boot it not happens,or maybe I am doing that wrong...( this is what I do: plugthe cord to the power supply, and plugging it into the wall then flinp ythe switch on the power supply, and the motherboard light comes on and nothing else seems to get power. ) There is a light on the motherboard that comes on, but nothing else. I have read through alot of the post where people explain some solutions to other people's problems, but none of those worked for me. I either have done something completely wrong or my motherboard is just dead.
I don't know if any of the part will work well with one another so here they are. -Smilodon Raidmax Case in case ATX 500w power supply -Intel Celeron D 3.0 ghz -Asus P5GPL-X Motherboard -Corsair XMS 1Gb RAM DDR 400 -ATI 9250 ( for right now) soon a EVGA GeForce 7900GS -Samsung 18x DVD-RW - Western Digital 160 gig SATA hard drive Maybe someone could help me out alittle. I know I did something wrong.. It could be the wiring, I might be doing it all wrong....

Do you have both the 24pin power and the 2x2 square power connection in place?
Try the minimum build out of the case procedure: http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=132409 Do you have another power supply to try? Raidmax PSUs are poor quality and that one is not a true ATX 2.0 unit that PCI-E rigs require.

Do you have the front case switch hooked up? If not are you shorting the two power pins to turn it on?

Yes I have all the the power button connected, and everything else is also connected. I did however try the minium build and nothing happened there either. I also don't have a spare power suppply laying around here, either. I do however appericate the advice I did get. I will probably go out and buy a new power supply, and if that doesn't work, who knows, but thanks for the advice so far.

If nothing happens out of the case, you have a defective component on your hands. The first thing to try is the PSU. Be sure to get a good one: http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=131195

With the minimum build out of the case, try disconnecting the case power button and turning the board on by shorting out pins that the button connects to. If that works, then your problem was a bad power button. If not, we can go from there. Your motherboard is out of the case, right? Because that eliminates a host of possible problems (Shorting, incorrect mounting, random quantum fluctuations.....:-)

After I got home I messed with it alittle more, and the wire for the power switch was in the wrong place, so yes it works now, almost flawless. Thanks again. We'll see how well it does work. When I play the first game.
