New MB

I am replacing my socket A motherboard and cpu with a 754 board and cpu, short term upgrade. The mb is the Asus K8V-X. This mb has 2 SATA connections, what I want to know is if this mb will run one hard drive not in raid configuration. I have looked and not found anything.

Thanks.

It should run one drive just fine. You may need to disable the RAID option in the bios or it will nag you on startup for a missing driver.

Yup - PR's right like usual. You probably didn't find anything online about this because the mobo is usually setup for "just a bunch of drives" and RAID arrays usually require futzing around to enable.

I have a seagate 120gb ata and I am thinking of getting a SATA 320 seagate for it. This 754 and 3400+ is a temp upgrade for 6 or so months. I am thinking for the long term. Or maybe i should wait and buy when I do my big build. This mobo has 2 IDE slots that I could use. Not sure what to do. Thanks for the info!
