This is what I am thinking about for my new build

This is what I am planning to be my new gaming PC

Case: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...171&CatId=1509

Processor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115003

Mobo: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...&Sku=E145-2008

Video Card: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...ab=11&NoMapp=0

Hard Drive: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...&Sku=TSD-320AS

Memory: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145015

Sound Card: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...9101&CatId=107

Monitor: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...157&CatId=2318

Total: $1621

First thing I am wondering. Is everything here compatible and have I remember everything I need? Second of all, should I go for Vista or just stick with Windows XP? Also, what cooling systems should I be looking at?

Thanks

First thing to do is shop at Newegg not TD.

Drop the SLI board. It's not worth the money and eVGA boards have been having issues. Go with the Asus P5B.

You'll need a better power supply then the unit in that case. For an 8800 card, go with a Corsair 520HX.

Skip the sound card for now and try onboard audio. You can always add a card later.

Stick with XP for now. Vista still has issues.

No need for extra cooling. The CPU will come with a heatsink/fan.

If you're wondering why you should buy from Newegg instead of Tiger Direct, take a look at these Reseller Ratings:

Newegg

Tiger Direct

Basically, Tiger Direct sucks.

Wow, thanks, I didn't know TigerDirect was so bad. Thanks for the advice on sticking with XP. I was also thinking I needed a better power supply.

I agree with Alaron for the PSU.

Also, if you look at all of the "dissatisfied" ratings. There followed up with a response from newegg and (from the ones i have read) they quickly remedy the problem. Ive used newegg countless times, and they have never let me down.
