How to connect frontside firewire plug to 1394 card?

Hi everyone!

Thanks again for helping me successfully build my first computer!

All is working well with the exception of one item: the firewire plug on the front of my microfly blue case is not working. I have installed a PPA 1394 firewire card in the PCI slot and the firewire works fine on the card from the back. The microfly case comes with a front 1394 plug and cable to attach to the PCI card. I attached the plug to the PPA 1394 card because the pins all line up.

Someone at FRY's told me that even though Microfly plug matches the plug on the PCI firewire card, it is not meant to be plugged in there....and he also said the only internal part of the firewire card that is able to supply a 1394 is the actual firewire plug on the card (there is a 1394 standard plug on the this card)

Anyone have any suggestions for me?

Not what you wanted to hear, but plug a Firewire cable into a rear connector and let it hang somewhere and use that.

Micro ATX mobos and sff cases tend to force you into the solution you've found. (Have still to get a firewire card for mine).
