Hard Drive Capacity

Hello guys
I recently built a new computer and it runs perfectly, but I have problem with hard drive capacity.
Although I bought 320GB seagate hard drive, the computer only reads about 130GB.

Do you guys have any idea what is the problem?
Thank you.

What OS are you using?

If WinXP, do you have either SP1 or SP2 installed? Without either Service Pack WinXP will see only see 137GB of the hard drive.

You may want to try this. Right click on your "my computer" and select "manage" from the drop down list. Once you open that, select "disk management" from the menus and see if your drive you are describing comes up all as one partition. I know I had the same problem you are having with one of my drives, and I had to format it in order for Windows to pick up the whole thing. Hope that helps. =)

If you installed XP with no service packs to begin with, all you will see is 128gb. The rest will show up in disk management as unallocated. You have 3 choices - use Partition Magic to resize the partition, create a new partition and format it, or make a slipstreamed XP disk with SP2 already incorporated, wipe, and reinstall from scratch.
