mobo question
Hi everyone,
i wanted to know whether i could install the mobo into the case with the processor and proc. fan already on. I havent recieved my memory stick (RAM) yet and i want to do some work on the comp. could i just add on the ram later? thanks chris |

yes, it's better to install the CPU and fan before installing the motherboard in the case (it's a lot easier to get to it). First though I highly suggest doing the out of case build. It might save you a lot of effort later on if you run into issues.

I'd just wait until all the parts arrive and then do the out-of-case assembly before building into the case. Messing with the parts before you're actually ready to assemble could result in damaged components if luck isn't on your side.

You can premount everything into the case EXCEPT the motherboard if you want. You should preinstall the CPU, heatsink, and ram into the motherboard before mounting it in the case. Leave the PSU out for now to make it easier to do the bench test.
