XP Installation question
I'm just finishing up a new build and have installed XP Home. When I went to activate the OS I got a "you have exceeded the amount of installations allowed" type message (thought I was at number three but forgot I'd installed it on my son's computer.) So I just picked up a new copy of XP.
Here's my question: When I receive the new copy can I simply use the activation code from that one to activate the installation I've already done? Or do I need to reinstall the software from the new disc? I'd love to be able to avoid going through the bother of reinstalling and I'd also like to start installing all my other software but am leery of doing that if I'm going to be reinstalling the O.S. Thanks in advance for any help! |

Use Magical Jellybean to change the CD key to the one for the copy you just bought.
