no signal problem

Hi all! I am a bit releaved to know that many people have the same problem as mine. And I have carefully read all suggestion on this old post,
http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.p...threadid=12753
but it didn't work for me.
My system is
1.motherboard: P5N-E SLI
2.CPU: intel pentium D 920 3.0 GhZ
3.video card: GeForce 8800 GTX
4.power supply: 500W raidmax or 730W thermaltaker.
5.memmory:2Ghz dual dual Kingston KVR800.....
6.serial ATA barracula 200 Gb

All the fans(CPU fan, case fan, graphic card fan),case light are on when the power is up. Monitor is power, connection is good, and itself works on the other computer that I used to post this thread.
At the beginning I thought that was a defect graphic card, I returned for a replacement. Then I replaced the motherboard, the RAM, the processor to Fry, the electronic vendor that I bought stuffs. Poor them, I returned everything to them for replacement, they have to sell stuffs at reduced price for open box items.
The RAM is definitely supported by the mobo, it was listed in mobo manual on the first line.
Power supply: the graphic card require 400W at 12V, 26 amp. This raidmax had 500W. Well, it may not provide enought power, so I tried a 730W thermaltake PSU. This didn't work either.
I also unplug all periperal devices such as USB, periperal fans, wireless internal ethernet card, CD-drive. Nothing is on. the display on the monitor is NO SIGNAL.
CMOS jumper: I tried that at the beginning before I replaced the motherboard. didn't work.
what I have now is brand new out of box stuffs.
I saw no burning on any components.
Could I have done some wrong techniques?, I laid the mobo on the case. Power wasn't connected when the components were added.
Actually the computer worked at first, but drastically changed to be very unstable. It was fast at first, but latter kept crashing, even shut off. Until one day no thing is on.
And I haven't virtually replaced every part. I don't have anything from origin except the case.
Perhaps it was my faulty wire connection???

Don't lay the mobo on the case, you want to set the mobo on non-conducting surfaces such as the motherboard box.
Need to make sure that the 24 pinATX and the CPU plug is plugged into the motherboard. And the video card probably has 2 external power connectors.
The Raidmax PSU isn't one that I would try to power a 8800GTX and the Thermaltake would be questionable choice also.

I replace the graphic with an ATI radeon 9250 also it didn't work. I do make sure the 8800 had PCIEX 16 power cable attached to it. it didn't work either

When you do the out of the case procedure, you must remove the motherboard from the case. The point is to check if the system is grounding against the case. If the system POSTs out of the case, you have an issue with the mounts for the motherboard. If the system won't POST, one of the components is faulty. And buying from Fry's is a mistake, they have a bad reputation for reselling faulty components.

I just used the memory on a different board, it seems to work. The graphic and the CPU, I dont have anywhere to try on. so bad. I dont think that the power has any problem because I tried both PSU and also replace an simplier ATI card on this troubling system. didn't work.

Are you certain that Mobo supports your proccessor?
Im probably wrong, because I know none of the technical gobbleygook needed, but to my laymans eyes it looks like your CPU is underpowered in comparison to the rest of your system. NO hyperthreading and only an 800Mhz fsb compared to the 1066/1333 fsb of the mobo.
Besides, It sounds like the only thing you havent tried yet is a different CPU.

And did you say that your system WAS up and working and then failed? Did you get as far as loading your OS?

oh, and the old thread is no longer there, so i dint get a chance to read it. Sorry if this was already addressed there.

Could you be a little more specific on the Thermaltake power supply (like a model/part #)? It may be OK to use, but I don't know enough about them to comment there. Raidmax is a definite no-no and a 400W is too weak for a 8800.

I checked the CPU support page for the mobo...CPU is supported.

my PC is now on!!! working almost perfect (not at fast at I hope for). I just remove ever component and tried to reinstall the parts. well, I allso removed the jumper cap, the battery first, run the power without them, then placed them back, and turn on the power again.

quite supprise they work! does anyone have any idea?

by the way what should we do when we replace some major components such as CPU on the motherboard.
