New Build Power Question

Hello everyone,

I was having problems getting power to the computer. I found the thread by GLC about taking everything out of the computer case and booting it this way. I tried it and it was successful. The only question I have is when the computer turned on I got the following:

System boot fail, May overclock fail or Post interupt.

About ten seconds after I got that, the computer automatically shut itself off. Is this normal or is this another problem?

Thank you.

Here is an update. I got the componets into the case and the BIOS recognizes the HDD and the FDD. The problem that I am having is that I am trying to configure the BIOS and after 15 seconds the computer shuts down by itself. It did this when the MoBo, and CPU were the only compontents connected to the PSU. The only componets that is getting power is the HDD, FDD, MoBo and the CPU. There is a 450 watt PSU in the case. Does anyone have any ideas on why the power is shutting down or do I need a bigger PSU?

Thank you.

The wattage is not a problem, but it is possible that the power supply is a bad unit. Sparkle is a very reliable brand, but even the best can have the occasional lemon.

Do you have another PSU to swap in?

Are you sure the heatsink is installed correctly? It may be overheating and shutting down to protect itself.
