Can I add a second hard drive?

New build w/older parts.

k8n-e deluxe mobo
amd 3400 socket 754
bfg 6800 gt oc
420 watt thermaltake
120 gig hard drive

My question is can I add a hard drive from an older system into my newer build? It has all my info on it and I would just rather stop using the ole p3 498mhz and just put the hard drive in with the newer system as a slave. Does anyone foresee any problems? Both Hd's have windows xp pro installed on them. What needs to be done.

Thanks in advance!

We need to know what kind of hard drives you're talking about. Are they both IDE and you're going to connect them to the same cable? Or are they SATA? If they are then you don't have to worry about the master / slave thing.

Yes, they are both wd ide drives. As mentioned, both have xp installed on them. I plan on hooking the older one up as a slave on the same cable. Any problems?

No, just be sure both drives are jumpered to CS and put the older HDD on the grey middle connector of the IDE cable. You may have to go into the BIOS just to be sure the computer is recognizing the added HDD. Once in Windows it should just appear as another HDD with it's own drive letter.
