Need Serious Help

I built my first computer and all the hardware is working great. Below are the system specs.

Intel Pentium 4 Processor with Hyper-Threading, 3 Gig, 800 MHz FSB, 2MB L2 Cache

PCI 1024MB Ram, DDR2-533

ASUS - P5VD2-X MoBo

Zonet 56K Fax Modem

ATI Radeon x 1550 Extreme Edition 256MB GDDR2 64 Bit video Card

Western Digital 80 Gig HDD with 8MB Cache

Power Supply is a Sparkle 450 Watt

The problem that I am having is that I am trying to install Windows XP Home on the computer and I am getting the following message:

Check for viruses on your computer. Remove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers. Check your hard drive to make sure it is properly configured and terminated. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.

Technical information:

*** STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF78D2524,0xC0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000)

I have looked through the forums and have tried the following:

www.memtest.org and found that the memory is fine.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324103
There are no viruses on the computer and as far as I can tell there is no driver issues. Also, I went here http://support.wdc.com/download/inde...n&pid=3&swid=8 and downloaded the controller, pressed F6 when windows is starting, the computer recognized the controller and said it would load these. This still didn't work.

Disconnected the USB connections on the MoBo.

I am using a PS2 keyboard.

Does anyone have anymore ideas?

Go into the BIOS and see if the boot sector anti-virus option is enabled. If it is, disable it.

Exchange that motherboard for something with an Intel chipset.

Thank you.
I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be compatible.

Excellent board - and it's upgradeable to Core 2.
