Skip the SLI motherboard, SLI is not worth the cash. One video card will play any game out there. We recommend the Asus P5B motherboard.
Go with DDR2-667. Anything higher is overkill unless you're overclocking. Check to be sure you get a Retail LiteOn, they come with Nero for burning. We recommend the Seagate 7200.10 SATA 16MB cache drives. The 320GB is the sweet spot right now for GB/$. Get that case if you like it, but the power supply is a piece of junk. For the 8800 card, you can't go wrong with the Corsair 520HX PSU. You may want to rethink Vista for now. It has too many bugs for us to recommend it over XP. Wait until a service pack comes out for Vista to upgrade. And, if you can wait on the build for a few weeks, the Intel Core chips are set for a massive price drop.

Concur with Alaron's suggestions.
Also, if you're in the US check out www.newegg.com for parts. Good prices and great customer support. ps Ender's Game = great book. Just re-read it myself.

western digital raptor drives are great to if your into alot of gaming and want faster reactions from your programs. the 10k rpm drives are nice, but only 150g and a lil pricey.

Microcenter's prices tend to be a lot higher than Newegg especially on the main components. I only use them if I need accessories in a hurry.

Don't forget sales tax - if you don't live in CA, TN, or NJ there's no tax at Newegg.
That board you were looking at is $134.99 at Microcenter and $97.99 plus $6.41 shipping at Newegg. That's a CONSIDERABLE difference. |

I'll one up ya on that. Corsair 520W @ Zipzoomfly for $106 minus $10 mail in rebate, PLUS free shipping = $96.
I know that this has already been said, but be sure to get a proper motherboard, stay away from nforce based ones such as that P5N SLI.
