P4800PRO-M V2.0 with Pentium D 925
hi, hope somebody can help me before i decided to flash the BIOS. i'm having problem with boot up "checking NVRAM......updated failed" then restarts. continuously doing so then stops on OS command whether to boot on Safe Mode (etc.) or normal windows, then reboots & goes all over again with the cycle. i already did the CMOS clearing with the jumper & removing the battery & replacing it back, result were the same. i have use (separate times) 1GB Kingston 533 DDR2, 512 Kingston 266 DDR, 512 Bravo 233 DDR but to no avail. i'm able to go to BIOS & change settings either using optimal defaults or enabling items, still no go. i'm thinking HARD DRIVE or OS preventing boot-up since HD is from previous E-machine, maybe need to format & get own/new OS (XP/Vista). like previously stated, tomorrow i might try flashing BIOS from ECS site & see if it works since i've read that this MOBO has been having bugs such as this. but afraid that it may worsen problem. any ideas? this is my 3rd PC built (for my friend who owned E-machines but MOBO was fried & replaced with combo CPU & MOBO from Fry's.

I think you need to get your friend a copy of XP and reformat that hard drive.
The computer is not having problems until it's time to hand off to Windows and you've already said that the drive was pulled from another machine which means no drivers for the new motherboard. The fact that you're getting the boot in safe mode or boot normally means computer can't find what it needs.

He can't reinstall his - an eMachines recovery CD will not work with that motherboard. Make sure you change the CD key to his key before reactivation or you just gave HIM your license and you are no longer legal.
