My New Case Was Shipped with the Front USBs Disconnected

Anyone ever receive a Cooler Master Stacker Evo with the front USB plugs disconnected?

Well I did. There are two 8 pin connections, same connectors that plug into the motherboard, just hanging below the top front of the case on the inside.

I have two open 5.25 face plates at the top so I tried to access the connection but I can't see anything. Everything looks like it's enclosed in a metal case. Power, HDD, and reset are all connected.

I tried to access it from the front and rear, even feel my around for a set of empty pins but I can't get my hands in there far enough.

The to front panel is made of plastic with two small screws but I still can't loosen it. I didn't want to pull too hard on it and break anything. I'm wondering if everything is supposed to be hard wired at the front and this thing was assembled wrong.

Any advice?

Thanks in advance

Not sure if I understand your problem with the USB cables. Looks like your case has 2 seperate USB headers in the case so you would have 2 USB cables to connect to the motherboard. On all the cases I've seen, the cable wires are soldered to the USB jacks on case headers.

I have seen some cases where the USB port on the front of the case are modular. That sounds like it is the case with this case and if it is then the case has not been built right. I would suggest a call to cooler master to confirm that before RMAing it.

Hope that helps

But they're not soldered. What I mean is there are just two USB 8 pin connectors, same type of connectors that go into the MoBo. What you're saying is they SHOULD have been soldered.

I'm just wondering if there's a safe way to take that enclosure apart. But even if I could, there may not be an 8 pin connection for them if they were supposed to be soldered as you say.

If you are thinking that the connections at the jacks are disconnected, you probably should see 4 different connectors: 2 to the motherboard and 2 to go to the 2 different USB headers.

I don't see 4 different connectors up front. I see the see a pair of 2 into 1 connections-exact same as the other end going into the motherboard. Looks like they just screwed up.

I'll call Cooler Master first but this could get interesting. I bought it from Newegg and this particular model has been "deactivated".
