New Build: Loud Single Beep when Powering Down
Here are the specs to my new build:
Asus P5B Deluxe WiFi, Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6700, EVGA 8800GTX Superclocked, Silvertstone OP1000 ATX12V/EPS12V, Corsair XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 SDRAM DDR800 (PC2 6400), Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty, (2) Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 400GB 7200RPM SATA (1 for Data), Lite-On 20X DVD +/-R SATA LH-20A1S, Samsung 18X DVD +/- R DVD Burner w/ Lightscribe SATA SH-S183L, Mitsumi 3.5 Internal Floppy w/ Internal USB 2.0 Card Reader, XP Media Center I'm still getting familiar with all the P5B BIOS settings but I'm trying to figure out why the PC gives a single beep every time I power down. This is the only time it beeps. I have everything connected (I think). My CPU temp is fine. I do NOT have a speaker connected to the MoBo. I remember the very first time I powered up after final assembly that there was a single beep when I first booted up. This was because I (accidentally) connected the CPU fan to a chassis fan header on the MoBo.  Can the P5B deluxe still give error codes without a speaker connection? If it's not coming form the MoBo, what other components are capable of sound error codes other than the video card? Or is it an error code at all? Something to do with the Asus MoBo to help shut the pc down properly? And trying to access or do a search at Asus' web site and forums is impossible 90% of the time because their server is painfully slow. Every time I log in there my password is not recognized. The motherboard manual should tell you what the beeping means.

That's what I wanted to know. If so, one beep could mean "Keyboard controller error, Refresh Time error, or No Master Drive selected". Perhaps my master drive settings in the BIOS. I'll have to check. |
