New Build

Hi,

I have just finished building my first PC. After everything was connected up I switched on and got to the bios screen. I checked the CPU temp which after a minute or 2 was 20 degrees C. I changed the boot sequence so it booted from CD before Hard drive. Then turned off the computed as I wanted to change one of the fans for a quieter one and put in a usb card. Once this was done I switched the computer back on but there were no beeps or display. I removed the USB card but still no display or beeps. I dont reallly know where to go from here. I dont know why it has stopped working, Any ideas in helping me sort this out would be very much appreciated.

Many thanks

Hey greshoff and welcome to PC Mech!

The first thing I'd recommend is running your computer with the bare necessities and get your OS installed. Add your USB card and other bells and whistles afterwards so that you can install the software that came with them.

If it still doesn't work, reset BIOS. Make sure the computer is off.

Locate the CMOS jumper and battery and remove the battery, move the CMOS jumper to the next pin.

Turn the computer on (it shouldn't turn on), after 10 seconds unplug it or switch the power switch on the PSU.

Put the battery back in and move the jumper over to the original pin.

Edit:
Are you using onboard video or a card and what model?

Make sure everything is seated properly, remove and reinsert the RAM.
