Need SM Bus Driver

I need to install a driver for the SM Bus Manager. I tried installing it for the XP Disk, my Intel disks that came with the MOBO (D975xbx2) and letting the PC search in the inetrnet. For some reason I can't find the driver.

I tried doing a search on the intel and MS web sites but I can'e seem to find it. Any idea where this driver should be?

It *should be* somewhere on the disk that came with your motherboard. Did you go through the total install procedure for the motherboard disk and it's drivers? If so, you can manually check for the file on that disk.....it should be named INFINST_AUTOL.EXE. If you can't find that one on the disk, you can try downloading one from HERE. I *think* the first one should be the one you need, but if you can find the one on your disk it would be for sure. You might want to set a Restore point before running either one, just in case.

Thanks Juppy, I did download it from the intel site.

I could not find it on the disk I got from the Mobo.

Should this disk be installed before Windows XP? I installed XP first.....

1. Install Windows
2. On first Windows startup install the Intel Chipset drivers (also known as INF..)
3. Then install other drivers
4. Then Activate
5. Then Windows updates
6. Then your other software

Yeah, you'll have to install XP first because XP formats the hard drive to accept data being written to it, so without that, you wouldn't be able to install the chipset drivers first anyway.

I saw you said you downloaded it from that site I linked to.....did that cure the initial problem?
